RIDE THE TONOPAH & DEATH VALLEY

Tonopah & Death Valley Route

Tonopah is truly a jewel in the middle of Nevada, halfway between Reno and Las Vegas on US 95. Visit the Tonopah Historic Mining Park or stay the night for the best stargazing in the country. The recently renovated Mizpah Hotel is the perfect place to stay and go back in time to enjoy the luxury that our ancestors loved. On your way south, be sure to make a detour to see Scotty’s Castle and ride through part of Death Valley National Park.

The Ride (148 miles): From Tonopah, head south for 57 miles on US 95 to Scotty’s Junction and turn right on SR 267. Follow SR 267 for 21 miles to the California border, where the road becomes Scotty’s Castle Road. Stop at Scotty’s Castle on your way through Death Valley National Park to Daylight Pass Road, 40 miles out. Follow Daylight Pass Road, which becomes SR 374 when you cross back into Nevada, for 26 miles to Beatty. A brief four-mile side trip leads to the ghost town of Rhyolite near Beatty.
