The Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings is where Clark Gable waited for news about his wife, Carole Lombard, who was killed in a plane crash on nearby Potosi Mountain in 1942. These days the mood is pointedly more upbeat at the Saloon. Heading 15 miles further south, you’ll come to Primm, home to Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas, golf, and great casino action.
The Ride (106 miles): On I-15, head south from Las Vegas for 31 miles to SR 161 at exit 12. Follow SR 161 to Goodsprings for seven miles. Get back to I-15 and turn south for 15 miles to Primm. Follow the same route back to Las Vegas for 53 miles.
